Computerhelpforum.org found a way to join the Windows Live Mail! Beta for free, without any need of invitations.

1) Use only Internet Explorer to perform this.
2) For this to work, you must be signed out of MSN/Hotmail. Go to the MSN/Hotmail Homepage, and double check if you are really signed out.
3) Copy this URL to Internet Explorer: Right Click On Here -> Copy
4) You should be redirected to another URL (Another URL to login). Sign in.
5) You should see the regular Hotmail once signed in.
6) Once you see the regular hotmail, do Step #3 again. Copy the same URL above.
7) Click ‘Join’ on the bottom (Scroll down!) and voila! You’ll get the Live Mail!

I’ve tried the methods mentioned but failed, even though I’ve changed my language to English and country to United States. However, there are many people claiming that this way works.

So feel free to try at your own risk, and do post back if your method works! Just let us know what exactly you’ve done.

SecureMac has released MacScan which detects and removes Macintosh spyware, remote administration utilities and keystroke loggers. In a telephone interview, Raba talked to us about current and future Macintosh spyware and virus threats.

Another proof of vulnerabilities in Mac again? Well well… I like this particular paragraph:

People who are frustrated with computer viruses and spyware are constantly told to buy a Macintosh, but Raba told us that this just gives them a false sense of security. “Sure it may be one of the more secure operating systems, but you can’t go with the attitude that there are no viruses for the Mac,” says Raba. He adds that proof of concept virus code is already running around the Internet and that a major Mac virus is inevitable. “Anyone with programming skills could make something, the majority don’t bother because they don’t want to go to jail,” says Raba.

All I can say is that there is no OS which is 100% not susceptible to any attacks. I just hate the fact that everyone who are using Mac claimed that they are completely safe, when it’s obvious that they are not. Even worse, when Windows users complained about getting viruses and all that, Mac supporters will just say, “Hey, throw away that PC and buy a Mac”.

The extension - AllPeers.

The file-sharing Firefox extension, AllPeers is going to be very popular. Just like how Bittorrent take over the world (er…not literally). After all, it makes it a lot easier for everyone to share photos, videos, music and everything with friends (or strangers?) without the need of uploading to any hosting site.

Anyway, it’s not launched yet, but you can find out more information and sign up for their alert once they’ve launched this extension at AllPeers.com.

The easiest way is to press that “Prt Sc” button on your keyboard, but what if a webpage takes up more than your screen? Worry not, the following Firefox extensions will be of much help to you. =)

This Firefox extension requires Java to work. Just install it, right click on the targetted page and capture screenshots.

You can save the entire page as an image (it scrolls around the page taking shots and stitches it together), just the visible portion, or the browser window.

Pearl Crescent Page Saver
Works the same way, but without the need of Java. You can either right click on the page, or click on the camera icon on your Firefox toolbar. You can also choose to save the visible region or the entire page.

Dear Mac users, you’re no longer safe anymore. Well, hackers are starting to target Mac users. There are known vulnerabilities to get into your Mac computers.

Here’s an excerpt from TechNewsWorld:

Hackers are learning to “think different,” so to speak, and now might be targeting Macintosh computers. Long-thought to be impervious to viruses, malware and computer vandals, Apple’s (Nasdaq: AAPL) Latest News about Apple Mac OS X is an increasingly succulent target, experts say.

“Macintoshes are not impervious,” said Corbett Consolvo, chief information security Free Trial: Eliminate IM compliance and security threats with policy and enforcement. officer at the College of Charleston, in Charleston, S.C. “As they are now based on a more common operating system, they have become more susceptible to hacks and malware. Their reputation continues to be that they are impenetrable, however.”

But this does not make PC users any safer. It’s just that Mac users can no longer use the excuse that Mac is safer than PC. =P
